Australians celebrate their national day this Monday, on January, 26. It is going to be a long and fabulous weekend with fun in the sun. The National Day of Australia is a great public holiday with hundreds of small and large events taking place across the nation. It is important to know that Australia’s Day marks the anniversary of the First Fleet’s arrival at Port Jackson (which includes Sydney Harbour) in 1788.
There will be so many things to see and do in this special day. Keep in mind that in towns and cities there will be community breakfasts, beach parties, corroborees and concerts, parades and pageants, sporting events, cultural and historic exhibitions and fireworks displays. Book accommodation Sydney Manly and you will witness the day when Australians celebrate everything that’s great about being Australian. For example, in Sydney, many people gather along Sydney Harbour foreshore for the celebrations on the water. Needless to say, each year the people of Manly are invited to nominate fellow citizens for the NSW Local Citizen of the Year Awards. The prestigious awards are to be presented by the Mayor of Manly, Jean Hay AM, as part of Manly Council’s Australia Day celebrations in Manly on 26 January 2015. It is great to know that a further 60,000 people make their way to the beach to simply enjoy all things Australian – sausage sambos, surf, prawns, pavlova and water sports galore.
Stay at a Manly hostel this weekend because there is no better time to visit and meet Australians and see the country at its most relaxed.
